We deliver world-class epilepsy care

New Jersey Brain and Spine provides advanced neurosurgical treatments for patients with epilepsy who aren’t adequately controlled with medications alone. We provide a wide range of minimally invasive approaches as well as conventional surgery to reduce or eliminate seizures in even the most challenging cases. That means that people don’t have to travel to New York City to receive world-class epilepsy care.

Our multidisciplinary team of epilepsy experts is committed to finding the treatment that best fits each individual patient’s needs. Before recommending any approach, our team works with each patient and family to carefully evaluate their condition and take their goals and personal circumstances into account.

Precision surgery may ‘cure’ epilepsy

We use the latest techniques to pinpoint the cause of seizure activity and treat it with the least invasive treatment possible. That means that patients experience less risk, less pain and faster recovery. Some newer therapies use techniques such as electrical stimulation to modify or modulate brain function and reduce the severity and/or number of seizures. Some patients who have not responded to other treatments may be good candidates for surgical approaches that can even ‘cure’ the disease, eliminating the constant worry of when their next seizure will occur.

Our Epilepsy Center is led by Dr. Robert Goodman, who has devoted his entire career to improving the lives of those with this disease. A pioneer who has helped develop modern treatments for epilepsy, Dr. Goodman helped establish one of the first multidisciplinary epilepsy centers in New York City and now works with experienced neurologists to offer the same advanced care in New Jersey.

I constantly work to stay on top of the latest developments in treatment and to play a role in bringing them to patients.

- Robert R. Goodman, MD
