About the Scholarship

This annual New Jersey healthcare scholarship is a $2,000 award created to recognize and support students who are passionate about pursuing a career in healthcare. Whether your path is medicine, nursing, neuroscience, psychology, or another healthcare-related field, we want to honor your dedication to improving the lives of patients and shaping the future of care.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • High school seniors or current undergraduate students
  • Residents of, or students currently attending school in, New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania.
  • Intending to pursue a degree in a healthcare-related field

Application Requirements

To apply, students must submit:

  1. Completed application form: contact details, school information, intended field of study
  2. Essay (500–750 words): What is one of the biggest challenges in healthcare today, and how do you hope to address it in your career to improve patient care? Share how a personal experience has shaped your perspective.
  3. Proof of enrollment: such as an unofficial transcript, acceptance letter, or current class schedule

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of NJBS physicians and administrators. Essays will be evaluated based on relevance to the prompt, originality, commitment to a healthcare career, and clarity of writing. The recipient will be selected based on overall strength of application and alignment with NJBS’s mission of advancing healthcare through exceptional patient care.

Award

The scholarship recipient will receive a $2,000 award to support their education. The winner will be featured on the NJBS website and social media channels as part of our commitment to celebrating the future leaders of healthcare.
