Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Gamma Knife)
Despite its name, radiosurgery involves no incision. It delivers many beams of focused radiation that converge on a target with sub-millimeter precision, treating tumors and other lesions while sparing the healthy tissue around them. Most treatments are completed in a single outpatient session, and patients typically return to normal activity within a day or two.
At New Jersey Brain and Spine, stereotactic radiosurgery is an important treatment option for select brain and spinal tumors, neurovascular conditions such as AVMs, trigeminal neuralgia, and other complex neurological conditions.
