New Treatments Bring Hope to Epilepsy Patients
As we celebrate National Epilepsy Awareness Month, I’m struck by some strides we’ve made in […]
A pioneer who helped develop modern treatments for epilepsy, Dr. Goodman established one of the first multidisciplinary epilepsy centers in New York City (while at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center) and now works with experienced neurologists to offer the same advanced care in New Jersey. He has advanced fellowship training in epilepsy surgery from the Montreal Neurological Institute and has spent more than 30 years caring for patients. In addition to epilepsy, Dr. Goodman’s expertise includes the treatment of general neurosurgical conditions (including spinal conditions), trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, normal pressure hydrocephalus, brain tumors, tremors and Parkinson’s disease.
Dr. Goodman is dedicated to advancing neurosurgical knowledge among his fellow neurosurgeons and physicians in training. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and publications and has served on the treatments committee of the American Epilepsy Society. He has also served as a clinical associate professor at various medical schools, including Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York University School of Medicine, and Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Goodman enjoys treating all types of movement disorders and other neurological conditions, but he finds the surgical treatment of epilepsy particularly rewarding. His dedication to this less common neurosurgical subspecialty enables him to give patients the latest, less invasive treatment options that can often cure their epilepsy.
