Dr. Kaptain is one of the nation’s leading surgeons in the surgical and radiosurgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the brain, spine and skull base. With more than a decade of experience caring for patients, he has advanced subspecialty training in neuro-oncology and skull-base surgery from Oregon Health Sciences University. Serving as the surgical director of neuro-oncology, skull-base surgery and radiosurgery at the John Theurer Cancer Center of Hackensack Meridian Health and as an investigator in over 20 clinical trials for glioblastoma, he is at the forefront of leading treatments for brain tumors. He is also an expert in pituitary surgery.

Dr. Kaptain is dedicated to improving the care provided to patients with brain, spine, and skull-base tumors. He has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Neurosurgery andNeurosurgery, and has presented his work at preeminent national conferences including the American Association of Neurosurgeons and the Society for Neuro-Oncology.

He has also greatly advanced the quality of care in the region by assembling a multi-disciplinary team of experts at the John Theurer Cancer Center that comprises neuro-oncologists, radiation oncologists, neuro-pathologists and radiologists.
